Storms Coming

One way to tell that bad weather is on the way is to watch the shore birds. When they leave the shore, it’s a sign, people! And we’ve found where they go – to our dock! They even displaced our usual inhabitants- bumping the family of ducks to our neighbor’s dock.

Hurricane Noel has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm but we are still supposed to get upwards of 60 miles an hour winds and have storms around us. I don’t know if we’re actually going to get rain here (especially since there’s a strip of sunshine across the sky). I’m actually looking forward to heading to the beach – storms raging across the ocean are beautiful!

How funny to see so many sea birds congreegated on your dock. Do they stay there when the wind really starts blowing or do they move inland?

There was one point when one bird made the mistake of fluffing his wings and he nearly got blown back into the water. But usually they hunker down and wait out the storm.
